To be recognised among Victoria’s most exciting dining destinations is more than an achievement for us. It is a celebration of Bangalore’s food, culture and memories finding their place in Melbourne’s extraordinary culinary landscape.
What Makes This Recognition Special?
The Age Good Food Guide’s 100 Essential Restaurants is an editorially selected collection of dining destinations across Victoria.
Restaurants are independently reviewed, with the final selection made by Good Food’s editors.
For a family-owned Bangalore-inspired restaurant in Carnegie, being included in this prestigious guide is something truly special.
We didn’t set out to be famous. We simply wanted Melbourne to experience the Bangalore we grew up loving.
What The Age Good Food Guide Said About Us
One of the most meaningful parts of this recognition was reading how The Age described our restaurant.
The Good Food Guide highlighted our Bangalore-inspired dishes, including our signature ghee idli, coconut chutney, sambar and aromatic biryani.
Our co-owner Jyotsna Reddy’s own idli recipe also received special attention.
But what touched us most was how the review captured the spirit behind NBV, describing our restaurant as:

The article recognised NBV as a place where Bangaloreans can reconnect with the flavours of home, while welcoming everyone to experience a different side of Indian cuisine.
That is exactly what we dreamed of creating.
From Bangalore Memories to Melbourne Tables
Namma Bangalore Vibbes was born from a simple belief: Indian cuisine deserves to be celebrated in all its regional diversity.
We wanted to introduce Melbourne to the Bangalore we know and love.
From crispy CTR Masala Dosa, buttery Benne Dosa and Bangalore Masala Puri to flavour-packed Donne Biryani, Chicken Jo and our creative Ghee Roast Dosa Tacos, every dish tells a story.
Some dishes remind us of childhood. Others represent our journey of bringing traditional flavours into modern Melbourne dining.
But every plate carries a little piece of Bangalore.
A Year of Incredible Recognition
Our journey with The Age Good Food began with a feature by respected food writer Dani Valent.
In October 2026, we reached another remarkable milestone when Namma Bangalore Vibbes was named among the final five nominees for Critics’ Pick of the Year at The Age Good Food Guide Awards.
And now, our inclusion in Victoria’s 100 Essential Restaurants for 2027 gives us another reason to celebrate.
