There are plenty of places to eat Indian food in Melbourne.

But finding a restaurant that makes you feel like you have stepped into Bangalore is something different.

That was always the dream behind Namma Bangalore Vibbes — NBV.

Located in the heart of Carnegie, NBV was created to bring the flavours, memories and energy of Bangalore and Karnataka to Melbourne. From crispy dosas and Bangalore street food to Donne Biryani, filter coffee and modern NBV creations, everything starts with one question:

Does this feel like namma ooru?

Today, that little idea is beginning to get noticed beyond our own community.

Recognised by the Australian Good Food Guide

We are proud to be featured on the Australian Good Food Guide (AGFG), one of Australia’s established restaurant and dining guides.

AGFG recognises Namma Bangalore Vibbes for what we want to be known for — authentic Bangalore flavours, signature Donne Biryani, CTR-style Masala Dosa, Karnataka street food, our exclusive RCB Lounge, Amrut whisky pairings and warm hospitality.

For us, that recognition means something special.

NBV wasn’t created to be another generic Indian restaurant.

It was created to tell the story of Bangalore through food.

So, What Makes Bangalore Food Different?

South Indian cuisine is incredibly diverse.

Food from Karnataka has its own flavours, traditions and personality, and Bangalore brings together everything from legendary dosa establishments to street-side chaats, biryani spots, coffee houses and neighbourhood favourites.

At NBV, we want Melbourne diners to discover that side of South Indian food.

You can start with our CTR-style Masala Dosa, crispy and golden with red chutney and potato filling.

Or go full Bangalore with a buttery Benne Dosa.

Then there is our soft Ghee Thatte Idli, Bangalore-style Masala Puri, Capsicum Bajji, Bonda Soup and, of course, a hot cup of South Indian Filter Coffee.

For someone from Bangalore, these aren’t simply menu items.

They are memories.

Donne Biryani — One of the Stars of NBV

Ask many of our customers what they come back for and Donne Biryani will quickly enter the conversation.

Fragrant, spicy and packed with Karnataka flavours, Donne Biryani has become one of the dishes most closely associated with NBV.

But we didn’t stop there.

Our menu has continued to evolve with dishes such as Chicken Jo Biryani and Prawn Biryani, bringing together familiar flavours in combinations that have become distinctly NBV.

Tradition Meets a Little NBV Madness

We love tradition.

But we’re Bangaloreans — we also love experimenting.

That’s how dishes such as Prawn Patrol were born, pairing mini idlis with bold prawn ghee roast flavours.

Then there are our Mushroom Ghee Roast Tacos, taking the flavours of Karnataka-style ghee roast and presenting them in a completely unexpected way.

At NBV, we call it respecting the roots while still having some fun.

Because food should create conversation.

Bangalore After Dark

The NBV experience doesn’t end with dosa and biryani.

Our connection to Bangalore goes all the way to the glass.

Through our relationship with Amrut Distilleries of Bangalore, NBV has introduced whisky experiences and food pairings that celebrate another side of Karnataka.

Our Bangalore After Dark experience brings together selected Amrut whiskies and specially paired dishes, creating a journey through Bangalore flavours in a completely different format.

It is one of the experiences that makes NBV more than a traditional South Indian restaurant.

And Then There Is the RCB Lounge…

amrut affair

Upstairs at NBV is our RCB Lounge — our own Bangalore-style adda in Melbourne.

With seating for more than 40 guests, a private bar, private restroom and balcony area, the lounge has become a space for birthdays, private dinners, celebrations, match screenings and special events.

If downstairs is about the food of Bangalore, upstairs is about the vibbe.

  • Friends.

  • Cricket.

  • Food.

  • Drinks.

  • Music.

  • Celebrations.

  • Basically, Bangalore.

A Restaurant Built From Memories

NBV’s story didn’t begin in a commercial kitchen.

It began much earlier — with family recipes, food debates, childhood favourites and a love of cooking.

Every Bangalorean has an opinion about where the best dosa comes from.

Everyone has their favourite biryani.

Everyone knows exactly how their masala puri should taste.

And everyone will happily argue about it.

NBV was born from that same passion.

We aren’t trying to say there is only one way Bangalore food should taste.

We’re sharing our Bangalore with Melbourne.

Bangalore by Birth. Melbourne by Choice.

Melbourne has been home to us for many years, but Bangalore will always be part of who we are.

Namma Bangalore Vibbes brings those two worlds together.

So whether you are a Bangalorean looking for a taste of home, a South Indian food lover searching for something different, or someone discovering Karnataka cuisine for the first time, come and experience NBV.

Try the dosa.

Order the Donne Biryani.

Explore our Bangalore street food.

Finish with filter coffee.

Head upstairs to the RCB Lounge.

And maybe, just for a little while, Carnegie will feel a lot like Bangalore.

Namma Bangalore Vibbes

Bringing Bangalore to Melbourne.

Ooru taste. Oz vibes.
